Do you mind if we ask you some questions?

If you died tonight, where would you spend eternity?

If you stood before God and He asked, "Why should I allow you into my heaven?", what would you say?

Do you mind if we share a few scriptures with you?

Romans 3:23 states that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  Every person, man and woman, has sinned. We of FireLight have sinned.  Whether it be by lying, or by stealing, at one point in time, we have sinned.

Romans 6:23a tells us that "the wages of sin is death."  There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it - we are going to die... physically.  But what about your soul?  Hebrews 9:27 explains that "it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment."  Not only will we die physically, but we will all stand before God on the day of judgment to give an account of our sin.  Sin has wages and they much be paid for - the wages of sin is death.

This is not only dying physically, but also spiritually, being separated from God throughout all eternity and ultimately being banished to eternal damnation in hell.  2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 reveals that when Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels he will "take vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.  These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power...."  In Matthew 25:41, Jesus tells us the following:  "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels...."  However, God has made a provision for us so we won't have to face this penalty.  The choice is ours.

Finishing verse 23 in Romans 6, we find that "the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."  Jesus paid the penalty for our sins when He died on the cross.  He went to the cross and experienced death and separation from God in our place.  Eternal life is a free gift from God.  We don't have to pay the penalty for our sins because Jesus did it for us.  This gift only comes through Jesus and His finished work for us on the cross.

Our salvation is revealed in Romans 10:13.  "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."  Our only responsibility to receive this free gift of eternal life is to call upon Him, accept Jesus as our Savior and only hope for salvation, ask Him to forgive our sins, come into our heart and be the Lord of our life.

Picture this:  you're before a judge because of all of your past indiscretions - for lying to your parents, or lying to your boss; or that moment when you looked over at another student's desk to copy that person's answers; or what about that time that you looked at another person lustfully?  The judge brings all of these things before you and tells you that you are to be sent to jail for all of eternity.  The sentence for your crimes is death.  However, there is an advocate; someone who is not only your defense attorney, but also someone who is willing to pay for your crimes.

How would you feel if there were someone who would knowingly and willfully step in and say, "Your Honor, I will accept the judgment that you have placed on this person"?

Now replace the word "judge" with God and the word "jail" with "hell".

Your advocate is Jesus.  He has already paid the price for your sin and ours.  But there is a catch:  we must call upon His name and believe that He died for us.

Please pray with us.

Lord, I know I've sinned against you.  I ask you to forgive me of all my sins, come into my heart, be the Lord of my life, and help me to live for you forever. In Jesus name!"
